Does anyone have any experience or opinion on this? I am particularly interested in the backup/restore portions. Would this mean I could get rid of Norton Antivirus and Outpost Pro firewall?
I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks, Sweetie

OneCare Was ok, I uninstalled it though when it blocked MSN Messenger from accessing the net.
That was back in it's beta stage. You can download a free 90 day trial from Microsoft, Here (http://www.windowsonecare.com/purchase/default.aspx)
OneCare comprises of Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall and is basically an alround package, and there are other all round alternatives to try to like Zone Alarm Security Suite, which also offers IM Security and Wi-Fi Security too. More on that and a 15 day trial From Zone Labs (http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/1230_zl/zaSuiteSetup_61_744_001_en.exe) and the info on ZA Security Suite: Here (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp?lang=&ctry=&dc=&lid=errorHome)
Either of these would mean you can uninstall the bloated Norton and all the other programs you have.
I personally use Zone Alarm Security Suite.
Hope this helps

I got OneCare on my Asus W2v laptop, and it runs fine - although I did turn off the "back up your files"....I do like the fact that the firewall shows OUTBOUND connections or at least attempts....
That being said, I did install it on my aging HP 8903 (1Ghz Celeron, 512Mb Ram) that now sits in my basement running headless as a fileshare and P2P server. Installed OneCare and all my "Network" drives dropped off, but I could still see the drives that my laptops have shared - and access them from either a VNC or Remote Desktop session into the HP.
After two weeks of fighting with this, I uninstalled - now my fileshares are working normally again.
Though I do like the licencing $49.95USD for 3 PC's, MS must have someone new in the licencing department!

Before I got this 64X2 4200 Dual Core, I was on a 900mhz Celeron with 512. Onecare died and it wouldnt give access to Messenger lol that was a laugh.

Over the Christmas period, Kaspersky did a 2 for 1 offer, for their Internet Security 6 suite, it normally costs $58 US (£38 ) for 1 license, but was able to get 2 for that price (as I have 2 Desktop com.). It also is quite good, had been using NIS 2005 before this.

Ahh good old Norton, I remember ( way back ) getting errors when I clicked the 'View running services' link in the Advanced System Information section in Help and Support Center.
Turned out to be a piece of Norton still hanging around after I thought I got it all, lol.
OneCare ? Might try the scanner, as for the rest...........?naa
