The critics reviews are in on The Da Vinci Code, they hate it, and so do people across the net claming to have seen it already. Funny, its only showing at the Cannes film festival, I didn't know it seated that many people. Its a shame really that so many, I'll say it, religious people, are writing bad reviews for it without even having seen it, which, come on, is obviously whats starting to happen. The church doesn't want anyone seeing it, so a whole bunch of church loving people are trashing it without even having seen it.

But whatever, screw the critics, they're wrong 90% of the time, and don't listen to reviews from people that haven't even seen it. Decide for yourself if you want to go see it. I'm not saying its a great movie, I haven't seen it yet, but I did enjoy the book and do want to see it.

But anyway, I'm making this post not to talk about The Da Vinci Code, but to repeat a great Ian McKellen quote. I have long been pro gay marriage and completely against the churches stance on homosexuality, so this just gave me a good laugh.

Seen in a Yahoo News story (http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/va/20060517/114788530000.html) :

" Ian McKellen, an openly gay actor who plays Leigh Teabing in The Da Vinci Code, sought to make light of the controversy.

"I'm very happy to believe that Jesus was married," he said. "I know the Catholic Church has problems with gay people and I thought this would be absolute proof that Jesus was not gay." "

Come on, now that is funny. My respect for him as a person just went up.

I probably won't see the film, not for any other reason than I didn't like the book. I thought it was a poor copy of Holy Blood, Holy Grail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Blood,_Holy_Grail) and was very disappointed by it.
Holy Blood, Holy Grail was a fascinating and better read.

.

Most likely it's been leaked and will show up in torrent sites soon.

I haven't read the Da Vinci Code yet, I am a bit curious about the book though. I know that it is not so popular in Europe, especially in France because the church says that the book is based on mere allegations not on real facts and that is not to be taken seriously. But that was expected; anything that is not in agreement with their ideology or principles will get no support.

I have not read the book yet either, but it is sitting next to my laptop for about a month. Have checked @ iTunes and they have as an audio book, which I am considering, but another story in itself. Will wait until November and sure it will be on DVD by then as last May, Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith, came to movie house and was on DVD by November. Will definately watch.
