I know others have blogged about this, but the Burger King, King (or would it be the Burger King King?) in their commercials, scares the crap out of me. I saw a new commercial last night where some logger is out in the woods felling a tree. As the tree falls, the Burger King is standing there with his hand behind his back like he is hiding something.

If I was that logger, I would have cut the King up with the chainsaw had he been standing there. That add just ain't right. What marketing nobber thought using this scary looking Richard Branson looky-like bloke in their commercials was a good idea? Everyone I know thinks he is down right creepy. I am surprised that I have not had nightmares about him yet. He may indeed be a benevolent bringer of food to the hungry masses... or maybe, something far more sinister. Either way, I do know one thing for sure, I sure as hell am not eating at Burger King anymore without looking over my shoulder or in my burger bun...

I think it's another Burger King ad that freaks me a little too - the Big Buckin' Chicken ad with a guy riding a big chicken like it's a bucking bronco. Creeps me out every time!

Yeah, theres another one with an ATM Machine, where a guy gets cash, and Burger King King robs his wallet and mocks him with it.

Whats creepy about that is the guy is oblivious to Burger King King behind him, and when he turns around he's like aarrgghhh WTF, and see's the Richard Branson looky-likey staring at him.

Burger King King just stands there staring at him then grabs his wallet out of his hands...

Creepy.

I think 90% of all commercials I seen on TV these days are downright retarded.

I have to agree the Burger King (Queen) is pretty scary. Have you seen one of the latest where at the end he is having a pillow fight with some construction/electritian guy (can't remember I change the channel) and there are a bunch standing around watching !! ?
Reminds me of the entire Michael Jackson fiasco !! lol

LOL, I just saw the ad with the cowboy riding on the bucking chicken! I thin it is tasteless. Some ads do more harm than good and some ads can be real bad. How about the ads that can play 3 to 5 times in a row right in the most critical part of a movie? It sounds just like they want to put down the company they are supposed to promote.

Yeah, Thats annoying. I have Satalite TV and on SKY One they have made their own add for The Simpsons.

But this add is not Animated, they made a real life version looking like the starting credits of the animated series.

Its so annoying, once it was played 3 times in the same advertising section, its on with every advert, and now really irritates me.

LOL, right it is irritating! in that case the proverb '' you cannot have too much
of a good thing'' doesn't apply. A commercial is usually NOT a good thing
and neither is abusive repetition. The viewer might just remember NOT
to buy from that company again!

I got this in an email the other day. We may soon be forced to watch commercials. They mentioned it on the news today too.

Invention: The TV-advert enforcer

The advert enforcer
If a new idea from Philips catches on, the company may not be very popular with TV viewers. The company's labs in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, has been cooking up a way to stop people changing channels to avoid adverts or fast forwarding through ads they have recorded along with their target programme.

The secret, according to a new patent filing, is to take advantage of Multimedia Home Platform - the technology behind interactive television in many countries around the world. MHP software now comes built into most modern digital TV receivers and recorders. It looks for digital flags buried in a broadcast, and displays messages on screen that let the viewer call up extra features, such as additional footage or information about a programme.

Philips suggests adding flags to commercial breaks to stop a viewer from changing channels until the adverts are over. The flags could also be recognised by digital video recorders, which would then disable the fast forward control while the ads are playing.

Philips' patent acknowledges that this may be "greatly resented by viewers" who could initially think their equipment has gone wrong. So it suggests the new system could throw up a warning on screen when it is enforcing advert viewing. The patent also suggests that the system could offer viewers the chance to pay a fee interactively to go back to skipping adverts

This patent will never succeed. Even if television stations did start embedding these flags in all commercials, this is just a US patent, and there would surely be televisions made in other countrys that couldn't care less about US patents that are designed specifically to ignore them.

The tv networks will never go for this either. Sure they can sell more advertising by assuring that the advertising will be watched, but every tv network there is is already, for lack of a better term, throwing a fit over internet downloading of tv shows, and this would, obviously, only increase the problem.

Okay, now it's Big Huckin' Chicken, a man dressed in a chicken suit who does stunts on a motorcycle. He's got a website where you can watch his stunts and they get progressively crazier as the number of site visitors goes up.
