µTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.
At a glance :
Multiple simultaneous downloads
Smart bandwidth usage
File level priorities
Configurable bandwidth scheduling
Global and per-torrent speed limiting
Quickly resumes interrupted transfers
UPnP support (WinXP only)
Supports popular protocol extensions
Localized to different languages
Typical memory use less than 4 MB
Incredibly small: 96 KB

When it comes to Bit Torrent clients, Azureus has long been considered the king of them all, but theres a new kid on the block, and everyone that has tried it has quickly made the switch for good.

µTorrent (pronounced micro-torrent, the µ is a Greek symbol for micro, or at least so I've been told), is very small, yes believe it or not it is 94 KB, requires no installation of any kind, great for running off a USB thumb drive, does NOT use or require Java, and uses only 3 or 4 megs of memory. Yes thats right, I said 3 or 4 megs of memory, has barely gone above 3 for me. This is a shockingly low amount for longtime Azureus users accustomed to the latest versions easily using 50 or 60.

It is constantly updated, I don't think the developers sleep very much, with an update (boasting a quite large change log every time too) about every 5 to 10 days. The one feature it does not have yet, but is promised in 1.2, is DHT, or Distributed Hash Table (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_hash_table), or in laymen's terms, trackerless torrents support. I have heard many, very many, people unwilling to give up Azureus or BitComet say they are making the switch for good the second µTorrent gets DHT.

I don't really have a need for DHT and never used it anyway when i was still an Azureus user, so have been a full time µTorrent user since 1.0 was released, and have not even thought about switching back.
