I've just got Wanadoo Wireless and Talk which comes supplied with an Invatel wireless adapter. I switch the Wanadoo Livebox off at night which cuts off the Broadband connection to Wanadoo but I am still able to access a connection through the adapter.
It says it is with SpeedTouch... I have no idea who they are.
Anyone know how this is happening and if it is safe to use? I've asked others - some say it is just my wanadoo connection and others say I may be sharing someone else's signal because they don't have theirs encrypted?

Some adapters are supposed to do that, I think.
Example, I have a cable modem, and voice over IP phone service from same cable company too. At night I hit the button and put the cable modem in Standby mode, which shuts off the net access for the computer, but the phone, which goes through the modem, still works even tho the modems in standby.

Before going over to NTL, I had a SpeedTouch ADSL modem and it was fantastic.
SpeedTouch are an electronics company (Website (http://www.speedtouchdsl.com/homeprod_dsl.htm) ) that make Modems and Network equipment. Its probably who make your modem and Wanadoo (formally Freeserve) uses that for you to connect.
You could also be sharing a connection, best thing to do is when your connected to Wanadoo, check your IP address. Go to our main page http://www.experiencewindows.co.uk and on the top right you will see your IP address.
Then disconnect, if you then view the page (refresh it) and if the IP address is different, then you will indeed be piggybacking someone else's connection. If the IP matches your own, then its your own connection and is nothing to worry about.

Haha, sounds like some people aint protected. Make sure your own wireless connection has WEP enabled to stop people using your connection.
