View Full Version : How did you choose your username?

Mine's not really all that exciting, but I'll tell you all anyway. I think I had a lot of my friends for the other side of the pond thinking I was some little old lady for a while, but over here Zima (say zee-ma) is something altogether different from the contraption old people use to get around.

I'm not much of a drinker. I like things that don't have a real alcohol taste, so I gravitate toward fruity things and the stuff that comes ready-to-drink bottles. Zima just happens to be one of those things, although the origial didn't really have much flavor to it (they call it Lemon-Lime but I don't know...) It now comes in orange, black cherry, and green apple too. It's made by Coors, and they say Zima drinkers are less likely to have a hangover in the morning, although it's got more alcohol by volume than beer. Okay, those are the silly facts I know about Zima.

So one evening, I was setting up a new computer and internet service. I put in my full name @ name of provider. Don't laugh, I was a newbie and had no clue about any of this! Then I regretted it forever after, because it was so much to type in every time I had to provide my email address. Did I mention I was drinking Zima at the time? Well a few Zimas later, I was on my way and setting up a hotmail account. Realizing the full name deal was a stupid idea, I decided to come up with something that would better reflect who I was. Tried a few goofy things, and every name I tried was already taken. So I looked at my bottle of Zima and said "I like Zima, and I'm a girl" thus a new username was born. And now I just use it everywhere because it's much easier to remember, and people recognise me that way.

So what's your story?

Mine's stuck with me for years, Micron was derived from my bosses at MSN Microsoft Network.

Simple but thats how it came to be, nowhere near as interesting as the one above me lol.

I got mine from a Sci-Fi Series that was aired a few years back. The name Babylon-5, it is actually one of the alien races in the said series. I added the 1 to make it unique lol.

My user name has a rather boring story behind it and that story is...

...I was relatively new to the internet, I had been on line for a while but had never been on a forum.

I joined weight watchers and they had an online support forum. I obviously needed a user name and I had been looking at The ragdoll cat I really wanted to have one as they are gorgeous cats. Well as I was signing up for the weight watchers forum it was the first name to come to mind.

The 26 is how old I was at the time (I was actually 25 but I was trying to get used to being 26!!)

So there you have it, I am ragdoll26 on line everywhere I go, 27 in someplaces, coz someone else got there before me!! So if you see me about say hello!!

I am also known in some places as bigandbeautiful but I wont go in to that one!!

Mines rather obvious. lol. Been a windows user since Windows 95, and XP was the best and definitely most tweakable one I'd ever used, fell in love with it quickly, learned more tricks and tweaks for it then I knew about all other versions of Windows combined. Started with xpaddict, which is still my yahoo id, and then became the xpgeek.

Ragged breathing, gasping air in gulps, chasing, running....I could smell it, the stench of fear in my nostrils. What I had once grasped as the last vestiges of my humanity were long gone from a time at least a lifetime-and-a-half ago. Dressed in what the courts had dertermined was the latest fashions of Paris, I dirtied myself crawing through the tall grass, sizing up my latest prey. I had resorted to feasting on animals in this quaint little town, which I had forgotten the name of. Belle de la Pucina or something or other....

And there it stood. A cow. An ordinary bovine meatbag just bursting with sanguine goodiness. Although it was pitch black, I could see the fear in this poor creature's lifeless eyes: eyes that conveyed the all the fear that this feeble-minded creature could muster. The whole thing was pathetic, to be quite honest.

I could feel my pulse begin to rise, by bloodlust quickening the beats ringing in my ears, the smell of blood overpowering in my nostrils. I drank of it, I infused every pore of my being of it.

And then I saw her.

A maiden. An innocent child not yet versed in the ugliness that I called my once-human life. Yes, innocent in every aspect of the word.

I then looked down at myself: A pathetic shell of a man who had degraded himself, his life, his soul, his spirit, to become a monster, a creature of the night.

But I had a choice, I was one of the lucky ones. A Vampyr, a dunpeal, a day walker. I had many names, but none of them quite described what I felt like at that moment.

A crucible had been given form by an unknowing maiden who changed my life forever. From that moment of self-realization, of self-loathing, I realized that I had to reject what I had become.

And from that moment on, I became Alucard, son of Vlad.

I became a vampire hunter.

 Mine has an interesting start to it.....
At the ski resort I was working at, I was a Snowmaker (yes, they make snow in Canada!) and always seemed more prepared and able to tackle the more unusual jobs......

"The boys" happened to see "Under Siege" with Steven Seagal - and since my given name is Casey - the name was born. AND IT STUCK!!!

Yours is obvious to Matrix fans, but remember when I first saw it and went "huh?" I've seen the movies, but it didn't sink in!

Casey Fryback is completely bad-ass. I have always wondered if Bungie had gotten the title for "Master Chief" from those movies...

Balance dictates that it is such...

Funny, don't remember that in HALO (don't have X-Box, so can't comment on HALO2)....

But the "proper" name is Casey F. Ryback from "Under Siege" - watch & listen to the dialogue from Tommy Lee Jones....That will give you a clue as to what the "F" stands for (Can't mention that here - I would have to ban myself  )

I knew what cfryback meant the second I saw it, lol. Seen the 'Under Seige' movies many times, and immediately said to myself Casey F****n Ryback !

The protagonist in Halo is named John Spartan, part of the Spartan human enhancement/armament program, and I believe his designation is SPARTAN 114.

But all the troops and officers called him Master Chief...

Fish n Chips is a popular food in the UK - we have many Fish and Chip shops.

There are also the double meanings to those words - Fision as in nuclear fision and micro - chips.

Just plucked the name out of the air... no reason.

btw Neo, loved the Matrix films!
