Somehow, somewhere, somewhen.... I have lost my normal display settings. Has affected how software screens are displayed (mostly colour issues not structure). Largest problem is with web pages, loss of colour, no style sheet or frames compliance, text size not controllable. Largest problem of these is in web mail... yahoo or hotmail. What a pain. NOt sure exactly what I did to cause this. Tried to uninstall and reinstall on of the Display adaptors, but did not get it reinstalled, and now have lost it. Please help!!

Hi and welcome to the group. Will be glad to help.
First need a little more info tho. Such as what operating system are you using, and do you know what kind of video card or adapter you have (Nvidia, ATI, onboard Intel)?

HI and thank you
Dell INspiron 8500 Laptop
I am running Windows XP Prof. Version 2002 Service Pack 2, 4-M CPU 2.40 Ghz,
Is it possible to have 2? As I know I have Nvidia, and ATI was also listed in my Device Manager.
I uninstalled ATI as per MSofts instruction in a tech support site, but unable to re-install successfully.
Let me know if you need more info and thanks again.
P.S. I have also lost my sound volume controls, if that has any connection whatsoever.??????????

Yes its possible to have two video adapters,if one is onboard, built onto the motherboard, and one is an actual video card.
You only need drivers installed for one of them, the one you are going to use, and the system can't use them both at the same time.
Do you know the adapters names and or model numbers, ie; Nvidia Geforce 7200, ATI Radeon something something, I am not very familiar with ATI products, as they are probly mobile chips and require differant drivers than a desktop system.
And what happens when you try and reinstal the ATI drivers?

Thank you again
The One adapter is Nvidia GeForce4 4200 Go (Dell Mobile)
The other ATI was a 3D Rage Pro something something
When I tried to reinstal the ATI drivers it came up as an Error Code 10. Not working properly. (no kidding-duh)
Hope this info keeps us moving forward here, thanks

What is the model number of the laptop? ie; Dell, uh names of Dell laptops completely escape me, such as Dell Precision 380, which is a desktop.
Is the Dell website where you downloaded the drivers? They keep a separate page for every system type they sell with all the required drivers for hardware it originally shipped with.
These are the drivers, I think this is the right one, directly from ATI.

If need the latest Nvidia drivers as well.
