Hello again everyone.

I finally got round to my dads pc last night wher the internet is finally working again. So i did a virus, spyware check etc and got rid of quite a few.

Firstly

Now i posted a while back that i had problems opening my comp, or controll pannel or in fact anything thats not in All Programmes in the start menu. I found now that its everytime that iexplore is running in the processes that i cant access any of these folders or files. For example, while internet explorer is running, If i click start and then my computer nothing happens, the computer freezes and then cant click anything, untill i end the iexplore process then the my computer box appears. Also i found that before i end the process the system idle is still actually running at 97%. Does anyone know what i can do!?

Secondly (and last)

I also installed ie7 last night (he doesnt have any other browsers) and seemed ok, however when i click on the new tab, it says connecting but just freezes, when i ctl, alt, del, to task manager says ie7 not responding! Is there a fix for that or is it possible to go back to the previous ie?

Thanks in advance

Ant

Hi Ant

If you can get into your PC, send us a HijackThis log so we can see whats starting up with the pc, then we can take it from there.

Sorry for the delay.

Only bad thing I found in that most recent log is this.

O2 - BHO: ohb - {5ED7D3DE-6DBE-4516-8712-436325722327} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\SmartShopper\SmartShopper0.dll

SmartShopper General Description:
SmartShopper is an IE browser helper object that often comes bundled with SearchEnhancer and other ISTBar family variants. Once installed, SmartShopper will monitor your web searches and display adverts relative to terms that you have typed into your web browser.

SmartShopper Removal Instructions

Also, be aware that the system idle process is SUPOOSED to be using the majority of the cpu. Its not actually using it, is the common misconception, as its just reporting what percentage of the system is idle. A system doing absolutely nothing will show system idle process at 99% usage.

system idle is still actually running at 97%

thats actually good as your systems got""97%"" of its resources free!!!
if system idel processes were at 3% then you would have problems.
