Looking for a Notepad replacement, with a certain feature. Have looked all around and not found what I'm really looking for.

Looking for one that allows pasting of rich text, and then allows me to switch to html edit mode to see the code.

Example : Like if composing a new email in Gmail and or hotmail, you can copy paragraphs of text off a webpage, and if these copy'd paragraphs include html links, you can paste it into the composing email and automatically have the html links that were in the paragraphs included. Its basically a WYSIWYG editor. I seek a standalone notepad like program that retains the html of the copy'd text when pasting the same way. And then if possible also allows me to switch to an html edit mode to actually see the code of the html links in the pasted paragraphs. Basically a standalone version of Blogger.com's WYSIWYG editor.

I know html and seek this only as a big time saver. Freeware if possible but ok if not, and hopefully something light and non bloated.

Perhaps you are looking for something bigger & better but what you describe is, I think, available in both the OE & Netscape mail editors. I use the older 4x Netscape Composer for almost all my simple html. OE's editor is also handy just for viewing the source but I still prefer the Composer.

I've litterally got dozens of editiors, some being WYSIWYG, but these two get the most use as I'm a firm believer in KISS. I don't really see making things harder than they need be.

But you probably want the more complex editors with built in asp, php, css, scripts, dhtml, etc.

Actually I just wanted something relatively simple, not a programmers notepad like Notepad++. In fact notepad replacement was the wrong way for me to describe what I was looking for.

I found exactly what I wanted with Windows Live Writer (http://ideas.live.com/programpage.aspx?versionId=4372c8c2-b76f-4d44-aea1-9835b61d8dc1), and a plugin called Insert Formatted Clipboard (http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=90429f7b-39e5-4210-a6e6-aed0e67412f0&l=8). Does exactly what I was looking for.

On another note, played with my Windows Live Spaces blog for the first time in more then a year, and I sure won't be using Live Writer to post to it thats for sure. Live Writer is actually pretty nice, but what a godamn retarded service Live Spaces is. It doesn't even work in IE 7 believe it or not. Loads every page and action with errors and nothing freakin works. Works well enough in Firefox, believe that or not, but its still clunky and slow and just ugh what a horribly designed service.

Anyway, Windows Live Writer is fulfilling my needs.
