This eve ive been to me dads to look at my bros pc, as was running slow! Turned on took ages to boot, waited a while for all the crap to auto start up, (msn, skype etc).
clicked start pulled up list, clicked on my computer...nothing, 5 mins i waited, clicked again nothing, lime it had froze had to ctrl alt del to log off or restart, when i did there were no apps running, however it said someting like McMapps not responding!
Anyway, it closed down and rebooted, same process but tried my computer and nothing again! Been trying to get to defrag disc as assume this amungst others is slowing it down. Cant get to my comp or cont panel to defrag. Is there something i can type in "run" to do it? And is there a fix to get on my comp or cont panel? The progs seem to be able to open eventually. (there is also winxp manager installed and working ok if theres a utility to use on that)

Wrse case sceniero, can the hard drive be formatted in the bios and xp re-installed, me dad and bro not bothered about loosing files!
