Firefox keeps crashing on one of our computers. Currently, FireFox 2.0 is installed. The only add-ons are 1-click weather, ad-block, g-mail manager, and talkback. We've tried uninstalling the add-ons and still get the same problem. I have exactly the same add-ons installed in Firefox in the other computer and am not having a problem with crashes at all. It crashes without a warning, and doesn't seem to be doing it on any specific sites or pages. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Still no fix for this. I've checked the updates, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing seems to work. No ideas anyone?

Sorry, I missed this Cindi....

An outdated plug-in may be causing the problem.

Try HERE (http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html) for links to latest Plug-ins and information about them.

There are also known issues with the VLC media player and Yahoo Messenger - are you using either of these?

I don't have VLC media player, but Yahoo Messenger is installed on that computer. There are no Yahoo add-ons installed on Firefox though.

... ok :?

Are you getting crashes in other applications on that machine or only on Firefox?

If it is just Firefox I would recommend following the standard diagnostic routine: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_%28Firefox%29

Thanks Fision, I will run through all of their suggestions on there and let you know what happens.

If still having the problem, can try making a fresh profile.

If you've been upgrading Firefox for a while through the versions, the user profile can become corrupted as various files in the profile are changed and modified for the newer version. Uninstalling Firefox does not wipe the profile folders.

First back up your bookmarks. The completely delete the folder at C (or whatever your Windows drive is) / Documents and Settings / Your Windows Logon Name / Application Data / Mozilla.

Application Data is a hidden folder and you need to enable view hidden files and folders in Folder Options if you cannot find it.

After you completely delete the folder, run Firefox, and it will be like running Firefox for the very first time. It will create a new fresh profile. Now import your bookmarks back in and reinstall your extensions.

Thanks Mike, we'll do that too just to make sure we got the problem, but I think it was adblock that was causing it. We removed it and so far so good! Will let you know if our luck holds out.

If that is the case, I recommend using Adblock Plus.

http://adblockplus.org

Its better in many ways. Its more optimized to be faster, use less resources, and not cause memory leaks.

Firefox 2.0.0.1 is coming within the next week or so too, and, a whole lot of crash fixes.

I just installed the newest version of FF on my computer, and I think that it is the source of my issues...

I have the Adblock plus, mouse gesures, Gmail manager, and Stumble upon add-ons, I have used them all in the past with no issue...

I do have VLC player, but it is not my default player for FF...

I think it might be my flash or Java plug ins idk tho...

Any help would be greatly accepted ^^

Furthermore, I am running the eXPerience Windows XP Ultimate version, if that helps in anyway.

Hi Gordon117

Welcome to EW. Have you got (or did you have) the Google Toolbar?

There are heaps of issues with that and FF 2.x
