hi,

I have just installed a new compact windows but the problem with it is that I have a azerty keyboard, and I can only choose qwerty or dvorak.

I do have a windows xp cd but I don't know how to install it seperatly.

In short: I need to install azerty ( belgium(point) )

How can I do this or where can I find it?

Hi Tokke

Welcome to the group.

To change your keyboard to what you need, Press Start > Control Panel > Regional & Language Settings.

In here, select Customize and select the language you want. Then below where it says Location, select Belgum (or any other language you want).

Then click the Languages Tab and select Drtails. Here, Again select your language, then click Add and again select your language and click ok, then select the Advanced Tab and for the last time, choose your language there and click ok, and ok again.

Hope this helps, and again... Welcome.

I knew that. but my problem is that my language that I want to shoose isn't installed on my windows.
Where I have to choose the keyboard layout, I can only choose united kingdom or united states. But that's qwerty or Dvorak.

So I need to know how that I can install a new languageon my pc.

I have another windows cd where all the languages are on, but I only don't know where I can find them on the cd and where I have to put them on my computer.

Hmm, well after some searching around, I'm stumped.

The language Dutch (Belgium) should be installed with XP.

See List of languages supported in Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292246/

Is this a full version of XP, or a reduced in any way version?

You wont really be able to install the language if its missing.

But... You have 2 options.

1. Copy the entire folder LANG from C:\Windows\i386 from another PC to yours (90+ mb)
2. Reinstall Windows XP

This should restore the Dutch Language. If you chose Option 1, then after copying the LANG folder, click the Languages Tab (in regional Settings) and select Details. Here, Again select your language, then click Add and again select your language and click ok, then select the Advanced Tab and for the last time, choose your language there and click ok, and ok again.

it is an reduced windows cd so my pc goes faster.
but i also have a full windows cd.

and thank micron for the advice.
I was trying something like that but there is still a small problem..
c:/windows/i386 doesn't exist.
on the windows cd there is a map i386, and also on the pc there is one c:/windows/Driver cache/i386.
I have copied the i386 file from one pc to another but didn't make any difference.

But when I want to add a new language, the input language " dutch(belgium)" is on the pc but at the keyboard layout/IME selection, there is no "belgium(piont)" only united kingdom and united states.

can anyone tell what files or folder I have to add or replace to add IME languages. and also wich position in the windows folder.

thx allot

It does, Its probably hidden. Windows wont work without it.

Right click the start button and select Explore, then click Tools, Folder Options then the View Tab. Look down the list and select Show hidden files and folders then click ok.

the i386 folder should now be visible, as will be LANG. All the language files are located in the LANG folder, and should be listed. Though... If your used to an Origional Bengium Language verson of Windows XP, you will not be able to all the point version, unless its included in someone elses Language files.

could it be that the its located in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\lang.

That's the only i386 folder that i can find on my pc

ok that doesn't work. i have the i386 at c:\WINDOWS\i386 on the pc where is no azerty, but at all my other pc's the folder isn't there. Could this be because i have a european version?

Its possible, Its difficult sometimes with the languages that are installed, depending on what country Windows XP was bought in.

I will have a think, and see what else we can do for you, there will be a solution, its just a matter of figuring it out.
